In 2000, the Government of Djibouti implemented the National Code of Insurances. Consequently, Amerga was established on the 15th of November 2000 with a capital of 200 000 000 DF, thus becoming the first Djiboutian Legal Insurance Company. This company evolved around a core of professionals stemming out from the old French insurance companies: "Prudence-Créole" and "Préservatrice Foncière" who were functioning in Djibouti for 30 years.
